Iran-America Deadlock: 5 Key Issues Fueling the Global Oil & Gas Price Surge – Why the World Blames US-Israel

Iran-America Deadlock: 5 Key Issues Fueling the Global Oil & Gas Price Surge – Why the World Blames US-Israel
- Friday World-18 May 2026
The global oil market is currently trapped in a dangerous vortex of uncertainty. Even after 10 weeks of fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States-Israel, crude oil prices continue to skyrocket. People across the world are openly holding America and Israel responsible for this surge in fuel prices — and this is a reality that no mainstream media can hide anymore.

Despite multiple rounds of proposals and counter-proposals, the two sides have failed to reach any meaningful agreement on five core issues. This ongoing deadlock has intensified tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and is directly responsible for pushing energy prices to alarming levels.

 The Complex Iran-US Relationship

Relations between Iran and the United States have remained extremely tense for decades. After US and Israeli strikes on Iran and the subsequent fragile truce, the situation has still not stabilized. US President Donald Trump has described Iran’s response to the latest American proposal as “completely unacceptable.”

Here are the five major sticking points that continue to block any lasting agreement:

 1. Uranium Enrichment Programme
Iran’s uranium enrichment programme remains the biggest red line for the US and Israel. America is demanding a complete halt to all enrichment activities, while Iran views it as its sovereign right. This issue tops the US’s 14-point proposal.

2. Future of Iran’s Stockpile of Enriched Uranium
Iran possesses a massive stockpile of uranium enriched up to 60%. The US wants this stockpile to be destroyed or brought down to severely limited levels. Iran sees this demand as a direct violation of its rights and has firmly rejected it.

 3. Control Over the Strait of Hormuz and Unrestricted Shipping
The Strait of Hormuz is the world’s most critical chokepoint for oil transportation. Iran asserts its sovereign rights over the strait and has rejected America’s demand for unconditional reopening and guaranteed safe passage. Any disruption here immediately impacts global oil supply and prices.

 4. Activities of Iran-Backed Groups in the Region
The US and Israel want Iran to completely stop supporting groups like the Houthis in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and various militias in Iraq and Syria. Iran considers these groups as its strategic allies and refuses to abandon them.

 5. Ballistic Missile Programme
Iran’s advanced ballistic missile programme is another major flashpoint. The US wants strict restrictions and curbs on this programme, while Iran maintains it is essential for its national defence and security.

 America’s 14-Point Plan and 30-Day Deadline
The United States has presented a comprehensive 14-point plan that includes all the above issues. It also includes a strict 30-day deadline to resolve remaining matters. President Trump has made it clear that Iran must accept this proposal.

 Iran’s Strong Stance and Counter-Demands
Iran has outright rejected the American proposals, claiming that the US and Israel have already been defeated in the conflict. Iran’s key demands include:

- Immediate and permanent ceasefire

- Complete removal of all economic sanctions

- Compensation for war damages

- Recognition of Iran’s full sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz

- Nuclear negotiations only after the ceasefire

Iranian officials assert that despite facing the world’s two biggest military powers, they will not compromise on their core rights.

 Impact on Global Oil Market
This prolonged tension has caused a sharp spike in crude oil prices. Major oil-importing countries like India, China, and several European nations are facing serious consequences. In India, particularly in states like Gujarat, the possibility of further hikes in petrol and diesel prices has increased significantly. Farmers, transporters, businessmen, and common citizens are bearing the heavy burden of rising inflation.

 Conclusion

Without resolution on these five critical issues, a genuine and lasting peace between Iran and America appears highly unlikely. The aggressive strategy of the US-Israel axis versus Iran’s firm stand on sovereignty has made ordinary citizens across the world the ultimate victims of skyrocketing fuel prices.

This situation once again proves that in the game of global geopolitics, it is the common man’s daily life and economy that suffers the most. The world desperately needs a fair, realistic, and peaceful resolution to this dangerous standoff before the oil crisis deepens further.
