Public Outrage Against Netanyahu and Cabinet in Israel: Citizens Take to the Streets
Public anger against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet has reached a boiling point. The ongoing war with Iran, delays in investigating Hamas attacks, and dissatisfaction with military operations in Gaza have forced millions of Israelis to take to the streets. In cities like Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, protesters have raised slogans against the government and demanded Netanyahu’s resignation.

For the past few months, the Israeli public has been frustrated with the Netanyahu government’s policies. Netanyahu faces accusations of stalling the investigation into the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which the public considers a failure of national security. Additionally, recent Iranian missile attacks caused significant damage in Tel Aviv and Haifa, killing 37 people and injuring hundreds. These attacks exposed weaknesses in Israel’s defense systems, further fueling public anger.
Thousands of protesters gathered outside Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem, chanting slogans like “Netanyahu to jail” and “Resign.” Among the protesters were relatives of hostages, pressing the government for the release of those held by Hamas in Gaza. In Tel Aviv, nearly 200,000 people took to the streets in what is considered one of the largest protests in Israel’s history. Some protesters attempted to enter the parliament (Knesset), leading to clashes with security forces, during which two people were injured.
Israel’s Biggest Enemy: Netanyahu, Say the People on the Streets

Opposition leader Yair Lapid supported the protesters, stating, “The country is facing the gravest crisis in its history. Netanyahu’s policies are leading us to destruction.” On the other hand, Netanyahu dismissed the protests as instigated by the opposition, asserting that his government is working in the national interest.

The issuance of arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes has further inflamed public anger. Protesters view this as a governmental failure that is damaging Israel’s global image.

The growing public outrage and the massive crowds on the streets signal increasing challenges for the Netanyahu government. If the war and internal instability are not resolved, this crisis could deepen further.
