Sana'a (Yemen): The leader of Yemen's Ansarullah movement (Houthis), Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badreddine al-Houthi, has issued a sharp condemnation of a recent incident where an American electoral candidate desecrated the Holy Quran. He described the act as part of an organized war against Islamic sanctities, holding the United States, Britain, and Israel responsible.
The Controversial Act by the American Candidate
Recently, Valentina Gomez, a far-right Republican candidate running for Texas's 31st Congressional District, posted a campaign video in which she used a flamethrower to burn a copy of the Holy Quran while making inflammatory anti-Islam statements. In the video, Gomez vowed to "end Islam" and made provocative claims linking the Quran to violence. The act sparked widespread outrage across the Muslim world and drew condemnations from various groups, including Muslim communities in the US.
Houthi Leader's Strong Message
In his statement, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi called the desecration a "heinous crime" against the most sacred religious book on earth. He framed it as part of a continuous Zionist-led war fully supported by America and its allies. The Houthi leader warned that silence in the face of such insults to Islam and Muslims constitutes a major betrayal of faith. He also referenced ongoing Israeli crimes in Gaza, noting that despite global exposure over the past two years, the Zionist regime continues daily atrocities in Palestine and violations of Al-Aqsa Mosque's sanctity.
Call for Public Participation in Rally
The Houthi leader appealed to the Yemeni people to participate massively in the upcoming Friday rally. He stated that such participation demonstrates their faith-based commitment to supporting oppressed Palestinians and their readiness to confront any conspiracies by infidels and hypocrites.
Reaction from Yemeni Scholar
Prominent Yemeni scholar and member of the country's Ulema Association, Allama Fuad Naji, also condemned the incident. He described the Quran desecration as a provocative, criminal, and terrorist act targeting Islam's greatest sanctity. Naji said it deepens anger in Yemen and increases hostility toward the US, Israel, Britain, and all parties united against Islamic sanctities.
He blamed past weak responses for allowing such acts to escalate into tools for US electoral campaigns. The scholar called on the Muslim Ummah to recognize the true nature of enemies and unite against them.
This incident is further strengthening opposition to American policies in the Muslim world. The Yemeni people have previously shown vigilance against such desecrations and remain prepared to adopt a firm stance.
