Iran Challenges Islamic Governments: “Whose Side Are You On? Will You Tolerate Attacks from US Bases or Stand with Us?”

Iran Challenges Islamic Governments: “Whose Side Are You On? Will You Tolerate Attacks from US Bases or Stand with Us?”
-Friday World March 17,2026
Iran's Supreme National Security Council senior leader and former Speaker Ali Larijani has issued a sharp open letter directly questioning the governments of Islamic countries. In the letter, he bluntly asks: “Whose side are you on? Iran’s or America-Israel’s?” Larijani writes that in this critical phase of the war, Iran stands almost alone while Islamic governments remain silent or even issue statements against Iran.

→ Larijani’s Letter: “Except for a few isolated cases, no Islamic government has helped the Iranian people”

Addressing the Muslims of the world and the governments of Islamic nations, Ali Larijani stated:

“Do you realize that despite relentless American and Israeli attacks on Iran, apart from a handful of exceptions, no Islamic government has come forward to support the Iranian people? On the contrary, several countries have gone so far as to declare that because Iran targeted American bases in their territories, Iran is now their enemy.”

He raised a piercing question: “Should Iran accept that attacks on its soil are launched from American military bases located in your countries? Is this what Islamic unity means — that you tolerate aggression from US bases on your land but refuse to stand with Iran?”

Larijani concluded with a clear challenge: “Iran is your ally and has no intention of dominating you. But whose side are you on? Are you with America and Israel, or with the Islamic Ummah?”

→ Arab Governments Remain Silent — But the People Show Massive Support Larijani’s letter has created a major stir across the Islamic world. Governments in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, and several others have so far refused to issue any strong statement of support for Iran. Many have even signaled alignment with the United States. However, the reaction among the Arab public has been overwhelmingly in Iran’s favor. Social media is flooded with trending hashtags such as #IranStandsWithUmmah, #SupportIran, #BoycottUSBases, and more. In Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq — and even among youth in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Egypt — Iran is increasingly seen as the “symbol of Islamic resistance.” Protests have erupted in multiple locations where crowds chant against American military bases and express solidarity with Iran.

→ The Greatest Fear of Arab Governments: A Popular Revolt
Larijani’s letter has exposed the deepest anxiety of Arab rulers — the anger of their own people. If mass protests erupt against US bases and grow stronger, it could directly threaten the stability of these regimes. Analysts believe this is precisely why Arab governments are staying silent: they fear upsetting Washington, but they also cannot afford to face widespread public backlash.

Iran’s message is a direct challenge to these governments:

“If you remain quiet while attacks are launched from American bases on your soil, the people will never forgive you. And if the people rise up and overthrow your regimes, you will have nothing left.”

→ Iran’s Dual Strategy: Military Pressure + Emotional Appeal to the Masses Iran is pursuing a two-pronged approach in this war. On one hand, it continues military strikes against American and Israeli targets. On the other, it is aggressively reaching out to the hearts and minds of Muslims worldwide — especially the Arab street. Larijani’s letter is a key part of this emotional and political strategy. Iran understands that if the Arab public stands firmly with Tehran, immense pressure will mount on Arab governments to either support Iran or at least remain neutral.

→ Global Implications and the Road Ahead This letter is far more than a diplomatic statement — it is a powerful political message that could reshape the future of the Islamic world.

If public support for Iran continues to grow across Arab streets, the political map of the Middle East could change dramatically. Conversely, if Arab governments continue aligning with the US, public anger may boil over into large-scale uprisings in the coming months or years.

Iran has delivered a clear ultimatum: “We are fighting alone, but we are fighting for the entire Ummah. Now it is time for you to decide — whose side are you on?”

This war is no longer only about missiles and drones — it has become a battle for hearts, minds, and loyalties across the Islamic world. Ali Larijani’s letter marks a defining moment that may determine the direction of the region for years to come...
